Big Iron is the farm show that fills the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo every September. For three days the grounds are covered with tractors, combines, grain handling equipment and exhibitor tents, and visitors come from across the upper Midwest and the Canadian prairies.
Show week is one of the hardest weeks of the year to find a room in Fargo-Moorhead. Groups who come every year often book a whole house close to the fairgrounds so they can share a kitchen, park a pickup in the driveway and be at the gates early.

Places in south Fargo are a short drive east on I-94 and are handy if you also want to be near the restaurants and stores along 45th Street and 13th Avenue. Downtown Fargo is farther, about a 15 minute drive, but it is where most of the evening options are.

Months ahead if you can. Hotel rooms across Fargo-Moorhead fill up during show week, and whole houses close to the fairgrounds go first.
West Fargo puts you a few minutes from the gates. South and downtown Fargo are a 10 to 20 minute drive along I-94 or Main Avenue and have more restaurants within walking distance.
